– Music – KARI HOLMES – Detroit -Friday-2016-05-06-

Friday – May 06 2016, Noon

Kari, is fierce and  exhilarating !

Her single, “Something New,” just hit national radio January 11th and she is currently on her radio tour.
Her second single, “More From Me,” was just released to Inspirational Country Radio!
Kari has a fresh, new sound to country music and is vivacious on stage.
With The Modern Day Drifters on her side, her passionate lyrics, dynamic sound, and high energy makes you feel alive!
Kari is a singer/songwriter, entertainer, musician and national recording artist!
Although Kari’s sexy innocence and “the girl next door” look stands out,
she has a fierce side to her as well that she pulls out in her writing and performances.
She might stand under 5’4″, but don’t let that fool you.
She knows of love, loss and heartbreak and has written over 60 songs expressing just that. She pours her heart and soul into everything she does and stays true to her bubbly, friendly, high spirited personality.
She writes of hope, faith and the importance of keeping your dignity, being an aspiring, positive role model to all.

She’s been described as a cross between Shania Twain, not only for her looks, but for her talent and attitude as well, Taylor Swift for her young spirit and songwriting abilities, and Carrie Underwood for her big voice.
Kari is the new country while her voice crosses over into blues.

Kari Holmes has gained popularity throughout Michigan and its bordering states.
Within 6 months of touring, she had the opportunity to open for Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan at the renowned 32nd annual Porterfield Country Music Festival in Wisconsin, Mustang Sally, and many more.

Here is a bit of very early Kari – Live – radio –

– at about 2 min +

and some early images on video –

Campus Martius Park

anchors a two square block district – commercial center and heart of downtown Detroit. Surrounded by over 6.5 million square feet of mixed used space
the landmark Penobscot Building
the contemporary Compuware and Quicken Loans Headquarters
the One Kennedy Square Buildings,
the Campus Martius district is a regional destination.
All of the major avenues radiate out from Detroit’s Point of Origin in the Park.
The Campus Martius district is a 24-hour neighborhood comprised of
20,000 office employees,
750 residents,
35+ dining options,
50 retail outlets,
Westin Book Cadillac Hotel,
10,000 Parking spaces
over two million annual visitors.
the award-winning Campus Martius Park, a 2.5 acre public square and year-round entertainment venue –  Located at the heart of the neighborhood and downtown on Woodward Avenue, –  the crossroads to all the other major downtown activity

In 1788, Campus Martius served as a drill ground for militia training.
Campus Martius means “military ground”
In 1805, Judge Woodward oversaw the plan to lay out the streets, squares and lots .
They placed their instruments and astronomical devices on the summit of a huge stone. He viewed the planets and meteors in order to determine “true North”.
Today – the “Point of Origin”  is located in center of Campus Martius
at the junction of Woodward and Monroe.
It is from this point that the City of Detroit’s Coordinate system was created.
Campus Martius  was very low and marshy.
It was very undesirable for building and the land was considered of little value.
In 1847, they raised it considerably .

Former Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer set the goal of creating Campus Martius Park as the best public space in the world.
The construction of the Park was completed for the Park’s Grand Opening
on November 19, 2004.
